Atlanta, GA

Atlanta has long been considered the economic and cultural center of the South. Although it is modern and vibrant, the city is steeped in tradition and Civil War history. The destruction of Atlanta was famously depicted in the film classic "Gone With the Wind." It’s also the birthplace of Martin Luther King, CNN and Coca-Cola®.

The metro area offers many activities and attractions, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic District, the CNN Studio tour and Six Flags Over Georgia. Pemberton Park, named for James S. Pemberton the pharmacist who invented Coke, is home to the Georgia Aquarium, the biggest indoor aquarium in the world. Also located there is The World of Coke, a 92,000 sq. ft. museum dedicated the world's most popular soft drink.

Atlanta is known for having a vibrant nightlife, great restaurants and a wide range of shopping options. The most likely neighborhoods to enjoy these activities in are Buckhead, Virginia Highlands and Midtown.

The metro area is home to five professional sports teams; the Braves (MLB), the Hawks (NBA), the Falcons (NFL), the Thrashers (NHL) and the Dream (WNBA). The Atlanta Motor Speedway hosts the NASCAR Nextel Cup. For golfers who want to hit the links there are many public courses to choose from in the area.

Atlanta is a beautiful city with rolling hills, a dramatic skyline and tree-lined neighborhoods. The most desirable times weather-wise are in the spring and autumn, when temperatures are mild. The summers are hot and humid and the winters unpredictable.

Driving can be a challenge in Atlanta because it has a lot of one way streets, plus over 70 street names contain the word Peachtree in them. Also many people living in Atlanta only know their way to and from work. So if you ask them for directions, they will always send you down Peachtree.
